Investigation Continues Into 2-Vehicle Crash In Penn Hills
PENN HILLS (KDKA) -- Police continue to investigate following a two-vehicle accident late Tuesday night in Penn Hills that left four people injured.
The crash happened when one of the vehicles was apparently going in the wrong direction.
"Car came around the bend, then all you heard was squealing and crash," said Don Wetmore, a witness. "The SUV was up on the hill and the car was totaled."
It was around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday when police say the two cars collided on Coal Hollow Road.
The driver of the red car, 29-year-old William Harbell of Penn Hills, was with one passenger when it collided with another car - traveling in the opposite direction. That car was being driven by a woman who has not yet been identified. She was with her 17-year-old son.
"A vehicle was traveling down Coal Hollow Road, it appears at a high rate of speed, and the driver lost control of the vehicle, actual spun at a 360 degree turn and hit another vehicle that was coming in the opposite direction," said Chief Howard Burton, of the Penn Hills Police.
Police say all four people were wearing seatbelts, which may have played a role in saving everyone's life.
Authorities say everyone involved is improving, but the investigation into the accident is ongoing, and there's a possibility that charges could be filed.
Accident investigators is looking at speed as a possible factor in the accident, but police say as of right now it looks like everyone involved will recover.
