Several Injured In Multi-Vehicle Crash On I-79 Southbound Near Evans City

JACKSON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Several people were taken to the hospital after a crash on Interstate 79 southbound near Evans City in Butler County.
The crash happened before 11 a.m. in Jackson Township. The accident reportedly involved at least five vehicles, including an ambulance. It appears another car collided with the ambulance head-on.
The road was closed, affecting the area between Exit 85 US 19 North and US 19 South to PA 528 Evans City and Exit 78 US 19/PA 228 and Exit 77 Turnpike, according to PennDOT.
The closure caused huge traffic delays, but the road has since reopened.
Several people were hospitalized, and one was taken by medical helicopter.
