Installation Of 30,000-Pound MRI Scanner In Oakland Postponed

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The installation of a MRI scanner at the Mellon Institute was postponed Saturday.
Carnegie Mellon officials said the installation could happen any time after noon, depending on weather and wind conditions.
Fifth Avenue, between Bellefield Avenue and Dithridge Street is still closed to vehicular traffic and parking through 5 a.m. Monday.
The new 3-Tesla Siemens Prisma MRI scanner will be the centerpiece of a new joint Carnegie Mellon - University of Pittsburgh neuroimaging research facility when it is installed.
