Ice Bucket Challenge Sweeps Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has reportedly raised millions of dollars in the past few weeks for research of Lou Gehrig's Disease.
There are thousands -- if not millions -- of videos online of people dumping ice water on their heads.
Many in Pittsburgh first took notice of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge when Pittsburgh Penguin Craig Adams stepped up with his family.
That sparked a run through the Pens organization, ultimately landing on former captain and now team owner Mario Lemieux.
"I would like to challenge all of our wonderful Pittsburgh Penguin fans," he said in his video.
A few days later, KDKA's Rick Dayton got tabbed: "I nominate three people to take that challenge - Ross Guidotti, Jon Burnett and Pirates' manager Clint Hurdle."
Well, after a week of waiting, Jon finally came through, with money in hand.
"I've got my checkbook right here," he says in his video. "I missed the 24-hour window, so I am going to do the Ice Bucket thing and write a $100 check to ALS," said Jon.
What happens next is comedy gold - Jon Burnett, in all his lovable and laughable, glory.
"I can barely pick this thing up," says Jon as he dumps the ice water on his head and falls backward.
Leave it to Jon to take a charity fundraiser to a whole new level.
