Husband Of Hit & Run Victim Makes Plea For Driver To Come Forward
BUTLER TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A man whose wife was struck by a hit-and-run driver over the weekend in Butler County says he wants the driver to "do the right thing."
Roberta Prementine, 42, had just finished work at Red Lobster around 11 o'clock in Butler Township.
She was crossing Route 356, or New Castle Road, heading toward the Sheetz when she was hit by an SUV.
"She got hit and kind of went up in the air. She said she heard her back snap. She thought for sure she broke her back," said Jason Prementine, Roberta's husband. "She kind of did a little spin, landed on her head and was just lying there in the road."
Police say the man driving the silver or gray SUV slowed down, but then kept going.
"She was about half way across. She was in the left turn lane, the eastbound, left-hand turn lane [when she] was struck," said Lt. Matthew Pearson, of Butler Township Police. "The vehicle proceeded up the turn lane, turned left onto Hindman Road."
Roberta's husband wants to thank all of the people who assisted and comforted his wife until the ambulance arrived.
She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital and then flown to Allegheny General Hospital.
Her husband is calling on the driver who hit his wife to turn himself in.
"If you have any conscious at all, please turn yourself in," said Jason. "Like I said before, I have four children and you could have very easily have taken their mother away from them. Please, do the right thing and turn yourself in."
