Hurdle: Pitching Staff Can Compete
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Pittsburgh Pirates manager Clint Hurdle joined the FAN Morning Show from Bradenton, FL to talk about his teams progress in Spring Training.
Hurdle said this pitching staff can compete, can give meaningful innings and get the team to the back-end of the bullpen. He thinks Kevin Correia can have a bounce back season and pitch like he did in '09.
When asked about Charlie Morton's problems on the mound, Hurdle said there is no reason to give up on him. He has the stuff to be successful, but Hurdle thinks Morton just needs to go out and pitch the ball instead of over-analyzing the game.
Hurdle addressed his decision to not create a competition for the starting rotation, bullpen and other position players.
