Hurdle Optimistic About Pirates Pitching

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - The FAN Morning Show caught up with Pirates manager Clint Hurdle at the PirateFest media luncheon.

Hurdle recalled the questions he had for the organization while he was interviewing for the managerial job. He wanted to know the front office had a commitment to winning, the status of general manager Neil Huntington with one year left on his contract, and if Huntington, Frank Coonelly and Bob Nutting were "all connected together."

Hurdle is also trying to create a new mindset for his staff and players. He wants the team to focus on what is happening on the field, instead of what people outside the organization are saying.

Hurdle thinks there is a good core of offensive players and is very optimistic about the young pitching.
