Howland: ACC Will Be Great For Pitt
PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan) - The Fan's Bob Pompeani had the opportunity to catch up with former Pitt and UCLA basketball coach Ben Howland.
Pompeani asked Howland about his dismissal at UCLA, and whether there were unrealistic expectations.
"You know I had a great experience there, was there for 10 years, coached a lot of great kids, worked with a lot of great coaches," Howland said. "I will always have fond memories of my experience there and I'm looking forward to my next chapter."
Howland told Pompeani that the move to the ACC is great for Pitt's future.
"It's great for Pitt," Howland said. "Chancellor Nordenberg and Steve Pederson did a great job of leading this athletic department and university into the ACC, which is a long-term league for this school now and it's really good for the future."
