Hounds Blank Toronto FC II, 1-0
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Riverhounds got their second home win in five days Wednesday night when they beat Toronto 1-0 at Highmark Stadium, leveling the team's record at 3-3-2.
It is the first time since August 2015 that the Hounds were able to string back-to-back victories together, and the win vaults them into fourth in the Eastern Conference.
The Riverhounds controlled the majority of possession and decent scoring chances early and were able to capitalize on the early pressure with a first half goal.
The match's lone goal came from a wonder strike of the right foot of Riverhounds' Brazilian midfielder Victor Souto who blasted a shot in to the top corner from over 30 yards out. It was the Riverhounds rookie's first professional goal and the first goal conceded by Toronto in over 3 games; Toronto had played three straight scoreless draws before visiting Pittsburgh.
The second half saw Pittsburgh continue to control the match and produce many quality scoring chances but could not get a second goal, but the game would end 1-0 as Toronto was shutout for the fourth game in a row.
The Hounds now have brief break before playing their next match May 13th in Ottawa.
