Teen Killed In Homewood Shooting
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) --Pittsburgh Police are investigating a shooting in Homewood that left a 19-year-old man dead Monday night.
According to police, the shooting happened around 9:15 p.m. in the 7100-block of Mt. Vernon Street.
The medical examiner identified the victim as Anton Smith, 19, of Homewood.
He was found shot multiple times in the street.
Witnesses reported seeing a car speeding away from the scene.
As police began the investigation, limited details were coming in. Someone walking or driving by may have been behind the shooting, but even that was still undetermined.
Homicide detectives returned to the scene Tuesday, canvassing the neighborhood in hopes of digging up more information or potential witnesses.
The scene quickly became a gathering point for family and friends Monday night as news of Smith's death began to circulate.
A cousin, who wanted to remain unidentified, said Smith was loved by his family and leaves behind many, now in mourning.
"He was young. He had a good heart. He loved his family," the family member said.
So far, no arrests have been made.
