Homewood Man In Hospital, Facing Charges After Shooting
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh police have released new details today as the investigation into a shooting late Friday night in Homewood continues.
Police say 20-year-old Timmothy Bazemore, of Homewood, is facing multiple charges in the incident including aggravated assault, loitering and prowling, terroristic threats and simple assault.
Investigators say police were called to the 1400-block of North Murtland Street just before 11 p.m. where it was reported to officers that a man was loitering in an empty lot next to a home.
He had reportedly been asked to leave the area by the homeowner, but "responded with verbal threats." Police say they searched the area, but did not find anything.
According to police, Bazemore later returned while the family was sitting on the front porch of the home and "showed a black pistol."
Police say the person who reported the incident fired his gun "fearing that he and/or his family members sitting on the porch were going to be shot."
Authorities were called to the area for a second time.
Investigators say Bazemore suffered multiple gunshot wounds, but was able to get away on foot. He was found in the 6900-block of Mt. Vernon Street and taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition. No other injuries were reported.
Police report that the weapon belonging to the person who reported the incident was taken into evidence, but the suspect's gun was not found.
Police say that additional charges may be pending.
