Home Invasion Suspect Beaten With Bat Released From Hospital, Jailed
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The suspect in a bizarre assault and home invasion is now out of the hospital and behind bars.
The family of 30-year-old Michael Pistorius says he was released from UPMC Mercy and taken to the Allegheny County Jail.
Pistorius was severely beaten with a baseball bat after police say he crawled through a pet door and held a Carrick man at knife-point last week.
The alleged victim is Pistorius' former employer.
The confrontation spilled out into the street.
"I think he went there to try to collect his money and when they wasn't trying to give him his money, he got upset," sister Chris Pistorius said when the incident happened. "Maybe [he] threatened him. I don't think he threatened them with a knife or anything."
The homeowner alerted a neighbor, who came over with the bat and struck Pistorius several times in the head. But Pistorius' family claims "he's" the victim.
They claim he entered through the front door, asking for money owed from a construction job. They say he didn't deserve the brutal beating or the charges against him.
