Home Invasion Injures Man On North Side
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A man is hurt after two suspects in masks broke into his North Side home early Wednesday morning.
Police say the incident started just after 2 a.m. on Spring Garden Avenue in the Spring Garden area of Pittsburgh.
Floyd Johnston says an armed masked man kicked in his door, and grabbed his 6-year-old step-son, putting him in the basement.
That's when Johnston sprang into action, trying to fight off a second masked suspect who was trying to come in the door.
"I went after that guy to keep him outside, so I was roughing with him, and the other guy was hitting me in the head, and that's when the gun went off," Johnston told KDKA's Heather Abraham.
Johnston was hit in the foot, but what may have been the bullet ricocheting.
The two suspects got away, and police are trying to track them down.
Police think the suspects may know the family, because they called the six-year old step-son by name during the attack.
