HOFer Jack Ham Says Franklin Is Right Choice For PSU
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- Steelers Hall of Fame linebacker and former Penn State great Jack Ham joined The Cook and Poni Show on Wednesday morning to discuss the hiring of James Franklin as the new head coach at Penn State.
"Franklin is a very good fit for the Penn State program moving forward." Ham said. "He is a high energy guy, a great recruiter. He will be outstanding here."
Ham also told the guys he has no problems with Bill O'Brien moving on because he did a great job in his two years there, getting the program back on it's feet.
"The worst years are behind us," Hamm said.
He said O'Brien deserves the credit for getting Penn State back so quickly.
"Two years ago this looked liked you could have written off the Penn State program for a decade or so. O'Brien did a great job of keeping it together and moving the program forward," Ham said. "He righted the ship and he used it to help him get an opportunity he could not turn down."
Ham said O'Brien was an NFL guy and always had the desire to return.
He said the worst is behind them now and the addition of James Franklin should keep things moving forward and being able to compete for titles again soon.
Speaking of titles, Ham talks to the guys about his thoughts on the NFL playoffs and makes his picks for the Super Bowl. There is no secret he likes defense so he is going with the 49ers and won't ever bet against Brady in the AFC, so he thinks it will be a 49ers/Patriots Super Bowl.
