History Favors Steelers In Playoff Games Against Ravens
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- It's the trilogy matchup.
There are a million ways to break down this matchup and the numbers look good for the Steelers.
Consider the Steelers have never lost to the Ravens in the post-season.
Back in 2008, Baltimore had to come to Heinz Field for the AFC Championship game and paid the price for that, losing 24-13.
In 2002, the Ravens were dethroned as Super Bowl champs by the Steelers who ended their season that year in the post-season.
Bottom line, the Steelers have never lost to a division opponent in the playoffs – 8-0 all-time and since 1964, they are 6-0 coming off a bye week.
"Every year is different, but playing at home, you know, when all the chips are on the line, loser go home, we play good," Hines Ward said. "But they still have that same memory as well, coming here to Heinz Field, losing in the playoffs, getting put out the tournament by us at home, so it's still in the back of their minds as well. But every year is different."
Points will be at a premium this weekend and that also bodes well for the Steelers who were the stingiest teams in the NFL in points allowed.
Ben Roethlisberger knows the best way for the offense to help the defense – no turnovers.
"I hate playing these guys 'cause they're so good – especially on defense," he said. "They're a great football team. As a competitor I like playing them the best, but I'd prefer not to go against them because they are that good."
