Highlights: Ramon Foster Co-Hosts 'The Fan Morning Show'
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – "The Fan Morning Show" welcomed Steelers offensive lineman Ramon Foster as a guest co-host for Friday's show, joining Colin Dunlap and Jim Colony - and they had an absolute blast with him.
It was Foster's first time co-hosting a full-length show, and he did not disappoint.
Here are some highlights:
Foster got things going with the pre-show, and the three of them discussed what it's like getting up for an early morning.
Foster touched on the scuffle he was involved in at OTAs on Thursday.
"Some things went on beforehand and it was to the point where, okay, it's time to stop, this can't go on," Foster said. "The extra shoving in no pads is something that can't be tolerated."
Foster discussed the growth of the unit and answered some questions about offense.
Foster also discussed Charles Barkley's comment that he'd like to shoot 10 percent of sports fans. Foster shared his thoughts about what types of fans bother him.
The crew welcomed comedian Aries Spears in-studio and had a great time talking about sports and comedy.
Next up, a discussion about an unfortunate situation involving Port Authority buses that rattled some cages.
Foster also weighed in on the cheating scandal at the University of North Carolina. Being a former NCAA athlete himself, Foster gave his opinion on the NCAA's relationship with student athletes.
"Something needs to be done," Foster said. "There's way too much money being made at these universities that there's no kickback for the kids."
One of Foster's issues is that between study halls, workouts, games, and practices, student-athletes don't have time to make extra money on the side, which they could really use.
"There's no time for being able to make money," Foster said. "You're getting no work experience. You have nothing for your resume other than yes, I played college football."
Foster talked about his relationship with the rest of the offensive line, saying if the unit has to pack into a car, Kelvin Beachum is the one that will get stuck in the middle seat.
Foster talked about what it was like growing up around horses and offered his insight on Saturday's Belmont Stakes. Foster believes that American Pharoah will emerge with the Triple Crown.
The discussion turned to the city's star athletes, and inevitably that meant discussing Andrew McCutchen.
Foster talked about McCutchen's efforts to get inner city African-Americans playing the game of baseball. Foster said his son, R.J., plays soccer and baseball, and is a big fan of McCutchen.
"R.J. loves McCutchen. We went to a baseball game last weekend and he was just looking for him. He was excited when he got up to bat, he was excited to see him," Foster said. "He gives kids in our culture of black kids something to look forward to. He's a hero in that aspect."
Foster discussed Snoop Dogg's criticisms of the Steelers' offense and his personal experience with Snoop.
Later, Post-Gazette Steelers insider Ed Bouchette joined, and flipped the script by having a player interview a reporter for a change. The result was hilarious.
Finally, Foster talked about what it means to him to play in the city of Pittsburgh.
