Heyward-Bey: Offense Has To Execute Better Against San Francisco
PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan) - Steelers wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey joined The Fan Morning Show on Thursday morning.
Heyward-Bey had four catches for 58 yards in the season opening loss at New England. Heyward-Bey said that the Steelers have to execute better on offense this week against San Francisco.
"Last week we were able to have big yards and move the ball at times, but we've got to be able to put it in the end zone. So that's our focus this week in practice is making sure that we can execute in the red zone," Heyward-Bey said.
Heyward-Bey is impressed by the 49ers defense, led by middle linebacker NaVorro Bowman.
"Their front seven is really good, their secondary has some veteran guys," Heyward-Bey said. "We've got to go out there and do our job, and don't change our game plan because of what they do. We're going to go out there and play our game and play Steeler football."
Heyward-Bey had a lot of praise for fellow wide receiver Antonio Brown.
"He's definitely the best player on the football field, every week in the NFL. I think there's only one player that we played last year that I felt like was on par with him, and that's J.J. Watt {of the Houston Texans). Other than that, he's the best football player on the field."
