Heat Wave To Hit Western Pennsylvania

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The hottest temperatures in nearly a year are moving into Western Pennsylvania.

Highs are expected in the 90s beginning Monday, and possibly the mid-90s over following days.

Forecasters expect the entire week to have temperatures into the 90s.

The National Weather Service says the combination of humidity and hot temperatures will have the heat index near 100 degree on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Heat warnings and advisories are already in effect across much of eastern Pennsylvania.

Severe thunderstorms are possible Friday an Saturday. NWS says the primary threat will be damaging wind gusts.

Forecasters say if you're going to be out, wear light colored clothing, and drink plenty of fluids.
