Heat Advisory In Effect For Viewing Area
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Temperatures are climbing into the 90s again today, which has prompted a Heat Advisory to be issued for the area.
The high temperature for the day is expected to be around 94 degrees, but the Heat Index could soar as high as 104.
The National Weather Service has issued the Heat Advisory to be in effect until 9 p.m.
As a result of the high temperatures and high humidity, the City of Pittsburgh has opened up four cooling centers, which will be open until 7 p.m. Tuesday.
They will also be open from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
According to KDKA-TV's Jon Burnett, a cold front will work its way into the area tomorrow, but there will be a threat of severe storms as a result.
A high of 90 degrees is expected for Wednesday with some afternoon storms. Then, there will be a gradual cool down for the rest of the week with highs in the mid-80s.
