Hearing Held For Lawrence Co. Man Accused Of Abusing Twins

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A man accused of abusing his twin infant daughters waived his preliminary hearing on Thursday.

Doctors said the 4-month-old girls suffered serious abuse and one of them may have permanent brain damage.

Christopher Kozura, 21, is being held on aggravated assault charges and is accused of violently shaking one of the girls and causing a serious head injury to the other.

The twins' mother hopes he remains locked up.

"He did this and he harmed my daughter and she's going to suffer possibly for the rest of her life, then he deserves to get the maximum sentence," Elizabeth Walker said.

He waived his preliminary hearing and his lawyer wants to examine the twins' medical records before going to court.

"My goal is to cross-examine him and I'll have a better idea at that point, the strengths and weaknesses of their case," Dennis Elisco said.

While Kozura wages a fight to get out of jail, Walker is fighting CYS to get her kids back.

She said they are blaming her for the injuries even though she isn't charged in the case.

"They pretty much just stated that I should have been there, I shouldn't have them with him, I should have known that it would've happened. But, it's not something you can just tell," Walker said.

He remains in the Lawrence county jail on $150,000 bond.
