Healthy Polamalu Ready For Rivers
PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) -- The last time the San Diego Chargers visited Heinz Field, they were humbled in a 2008 playoff contest en route to the Steelers' sixth world championship, and, several weeks prior, the Steelers beat them in unconventional 11-8 fashion, highlighted by the play of Troy Polamalu.
The All-Pro safety, who finally returned to action last weekend in Baltimore after chronic calf problems, still respects the prowess of San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers despite the fact he and the Chargers, per conventional wisdom, have underachieved, and that his head coach's employment status may or may not be dangling by a thread.
"We definitely know what he's capable of. I'm sure they're very disappointed in their record, as we are in our record," Polamalu said recently. "We always play each other tough, no matter what the records are. They're obviously, up and down their roster, very talented, with physically gifted and tall receivers, and one of the best tight ends to ever play the game."
