Healthcare.gov Enrollment Numbers Lower Than Expected
PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) - Healthcare.gov enrollment numbers are lower than expected.
Only 2,200 people in Pennsylvania were able to sign up and Congressman Tim Murphy tells KDKA's Marty Griffin it's a bitter pill to swallow for the tens of thousands of people just in the Pittsburgh region alone who were told they can't keep their insurance plan.
They have tried to go onto the website and found it unusable.
Congressman Murphy talks about some of the stories he's heard from people who are frightened by what has happened. There is only a few days left to sign up, and are told if you don't do it, the IRS is going to fine them and tax more.
When young people realize that it's going to cost them thousands of dollars just starting out in their careers, some are saying they will take the $95 fine and run the risk of not having health insurance and hope they turn out okay.
Congressman Murphy talks about his bill, HR 3350, which he is the co-sponsor of. It will be voted on tomorrow. It states that health insurers continue to offer their current plan that will be grandfathered in everything that is available as of January 2013.
