Health Officials Issue Rabies Warning
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Health officials in two local counties are warning about possible exposure to rabies.
They're looking for a couple who delivered a baby raccoon to the state Game Commission office in Franklin, Venango County.
The animal may have had rabies, but was lost in transport.
The couple, which may have been from the Seneca/Cranberry area of Venango County, drove a white van with red lettering on the side.
Meantime, a black and white male cat found on Sunset Valley Road in Neshannock Township, Lawrence County, tested positive for rabies.
You don't have to be bitten to contract rabies – a scratch or fluids from a rabid animal that come in contact with a cut or sore could transmit the disease.
