Harlem Globetrotters Visit Trafford Middle School
TRAFFORD (KDKA) -- The Harlem Globetrotters have piled up many laughs in their reign as basketball's court jesters.
The world is their stage, and so is Trafford Middle School.
Firefly Fisher and seven-foot-eight Tiny Sturgess, who is the world's tallest basketball player, paid a visit to the school on Wednesday.
The visit was set in motion by seventh grader MacKenzie Lamacz.
Her anti-bullying message won a contest sponsored by radio station KISS-FM.
"The bullies feel they think they're big and bad about themselves, but they're really not," Lamacz says. "They're just becoming a lower person than the person getting bullied."
The Harlem Globetrotters have been bullying their opponents, the hapless Washington Generals, for 86 years now. But the bullying stops once they leave the court.
The Globetrotters help us leave our troubles behind.
"If you come to a Globetrotters game, it'll make you forget about that for those two hours," Fisher said. "That's what we're about. We're about creating smiles and creating memories."
