Hall Of Famer Ray Bourque: Iginla Has To Love The Pressure
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) -- NHL Hall of Famer and longtime Boston Bruins defenseman Ray Bourque joined The Fan Morning Show on Friday to break down the Penguins-Bruins Eastern Conference Final match-up.
Bourque won a Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche after spending 21 years with the Bruins, so he offered some insight into how the Pens' Jarome Iginla must be feeling as the longtime-Calgary Flames star looks for his first cup.
"This is the kind of pressure that you want," Bourque said. "You want to be in this situation where you're playing in the semifinals, and you're trying to help your team move on to the next series to have a chance to play for the cup. It's pressure that I'm sure he's very, very happy to have."
He told the guys that he likes the job Tuukka Rask has done handling the pressure in the post-season so far.
"I think Tuukka, if it wasn't for him actually, Toronto, that series, I don't know if the Bruins get out of that first round," Bourque said. "All year long it has been questioned if, after losing [Tim] Thomas, Tuukka would be able to kind of carry the load -- and he had a very good season, but the question was, is he going to be able to answer the critics in the playoffs? And so far, he's done a great job of that, and he's actually stolen a game or two so far and I think he's capable of doing that. He's probably going to have to do that in this series."
He also promoted a raffle for game four tickets, the winner of which receives two premium club seats and money towards travel. The entry deadline is June 6 at 11 a.m.
