Gunmen Sought In New Castle Shooting
NEW CASTLE (KDKA) - A mother and her infant son were injured by shattering glass after someone opened fire on their Lawrence County home Sunday night.
"I feel sorry for you. You have a problem, a serious problem. That's crazy. I feel sorry for you," Tony Jakes said.
That's what Jakes said about the gunman who fired at least eight rounds into the townhouse he shares with his girlfriend and their children in New Castle.
"We were laying down in the bed about 9 o'clock. My daughter, my son and my old lady were laying down. We heard some shots and we went to the floor. The shots kept going and my lady had glass and my son had glass on his arm and everything," Jakes said.
The bullets missed the family by inches. Glass shattered all over Tiffany Culver and their 4-month-old son, Tony Jr.
"It just got me all up my arm, the glass, in my face and in my neck. He had two gashes in his arm," Culver said.
New Castle Police are now handling the investigation.
"We're dealing with handguns apparently and I can say it looks at least looks like a .40-caliber 9mm," New Castle Police Chief Tom Sansone said. "It's easy for somebody to drive up outside of a house and shoot into it. That takes a coward."
Jakes and Culver couldn't agree more and are planning on moving very soon.
Police believe at least two gunmen were involved, but no arrests have been made at this time.
