Guide To First Night Pittsburgh

This New Year's Eve, Pittsburgh is the place to be. From First Night to the Winter Classic, tens of thousands of people are expected to ring in 2011 in downtown Pittsburgh and on the North Shore. In addition to the nearly 100 events planned for First Night, there are dozens of events going on associated with the NHL's Winter Classic. Here's what you need to know if you plan on coming down to ring in the New Year:

First Night Pittsburgh:

With the Winter Classic in town, the hope is that Pittsburgh will be buzzing too. Especially considering that the outdoor game is happening in cooperation with First Night Pittsburgh 2011. The annual celebration of the New Year is a family-friendly event that takes place at venues across downtown Pittsburgh. It features live entertainment, a parade, lots of activities and, of course, fireworks!

Winter Classic:

From the Community Rink to a pep rally to a display of Mario Lemieux's trophies, New Year's 2011 in Pittsburgh is all about hockey. The game will feature the Penguins taking on the Washington Capitals at Heinz Field on Jan. 1, 2011. But before that, there's plenty of pre-game fun to be had!
