Greg Brown Confident In Pirates' Ability To Bounce Back From Game 4 Loss
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Pirates Broadcaster Greg Brown joined Starkey, Miller and Mueller for his weekly spot to preview Pirates-Cardinals Game 5 and what he makes of these young pitchers making major contributions, like Gerrit Cole and Michael Wacha.
"Big crowds, big situations, you can't help but have some nervousness," Brown said. "What Cole did last week and what Joe Kelly did the other night and what Michael Wacha did yesterday is incredible. Wacha made history. No rookie in playoff history had ever gone that long with a no-hitter."
When it comes to a Game 5 prediction, Brown is confident in the Pirates' ability to "shower well" as Clint Hurdle puts it and told us what he saw from them after the wild card play-in game victory that makes him think that way.
"Knowing usually the bus leaves for the airport about an hour after the game ends, I took my time, sat in the booth with Steve Blass talking about what a great night it was, I figured I had a good couple hours to get to the bus, I just casually walk down towards the bus about a half hour after the game ended, and I see these players heading onto the bus and someone said 'we're going to try and leave early.' I was stunned, I mean they had the celebration, they showered literally quickly, and got on the bus and went back to business, and that is exactly what I expect them to do heading into St. Louis. It will not surprise me in the least if they win tomorrow night and we're heading to Los Angeles," he said.
Brown also talked about the configuration of the lineup for Gmae 5 and if he would consider moving Pedro Alvarez up in the order given the hot streak he's on.
