'Greensburg 6' Suspect to Be Tried As Adult
GREENSBURG (KDKA) - A Monday morning hearing cleared the way for one of the six suspects accused of murdering a Greensburg woman last year to go to trial.
Angela Marinucci was 17-years-old at the time she and five co-defendants are accused of murdering Jennifer Daugherty inside of a Greensburg apartment.
During Monday's hearing, Marinucci's attorney withdrew a motion asking that her case be moved to juvenile court. Defense attorney Mike DeMatt also withdrew a motion asking for a psychological evaluation of his client.
Marinucci briefly took the stand so the judge could be sure she understood what it meant to withdraw the motions.
She told the judge she had extensively discussed the two items with her attorney.
However, she also told the judge that she didn't understand the proceedings and the judge answered her questions.
Prosecutors told the judge they would hand over all remaining discovery by Tuesday, including phone records of text messages from all the phones that were confiscated.
Daugherty's phone records could not be retrieved because of her cell phone provider.
Investigators tell KDKA-TV that they are continuing to get new information in this case and they will be interviewing a new jailhouse snitch sometime this week.
As for a plea deal, DeMatt said there is no offer currently on the table. He said he and his client would not be opposed to it if the appropriate offer were made.
Jury selection in Marinucci's trial is set to begin May 2 in front of Judge Rita Hathaway.
