Gradkowski: Always Nice To Watch Film After Win
PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- The Steelers won their first game of the season on Sunday, defeating the New York Jets 19-6.
Quarterback Bruce Gradkowski told Andrew Fillipponi Monday that the win makes watching film more enjoyable.
"It's always nice to come in on a Monday, watch the film knowing you got that 'W,'" Gradkowski said. "Today was good. We still have a lot to learn from and get better at. But it's always nice to come in and learn after a win."
One of the key plays in the game was Ben Roethlisberger's third quarter, 55-yard touchdown pass to Emmanuel Sanders. It came on a 3rd-and-short, with the Steelers clinging to a 9-6 lead.
"I loved the play call," Gradkowski said. "Most of the time, you're third and short, 'hey let's just get this first down, let's pound it up, get the first down' and everyone expects that."
Gradkowski added, "I think Emmanuel Sanders ran a great route on that, and the scariest thing for a quarterback is having a guy that wide open, thinking 'please do not overthrow him'."
Looking ahead, the Steelers host the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. The Ravens starting center is Bruce Gradkowski's younger brother, Gino.
"I'm excited about it. It's going to be awesome coming back home, playing in front of the family, playing against that great Dick LeBeau defense that he always puts together," Gino Gradkowski told Fillipponi. "It's going be a great challenge for me. I'm fired up."
Fillipponi asked if the brothers would see each other before the game.
"I'll try to see him, of course," Bruce Gradkowski said. "When you do get together, you don't really talk about football. It's just good to see him. He knows how proud I am of him."
