Gov. Signs Execution Warrant For Convicted "Kill For Thrill" Killer
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Gov. Tom Corbett has signed an execution warrant for a man convicted in the "Kill for Thrill" murders 33 years ago.
The execution of 54-year-old Michael Travaglia is scheduled for April 25.
He and John Lesko were convicted of killing several people, including Apollo Police Officer Leonard Miller, over the course of several days in December 1979 and January 1980.
According to police, Travaglia allegedly killed Miller after he was pulled over for speeding. As Miller approached the car, Travaglia is accused of shooting him twice, leaving his body on the highway.
Prior to killing Miller, Travaglia and his co-defendants were also accused of killing three other people who had offered to give them rides.
The governor signed a death warrant for Lesko in September 2011. His execution appeal is still pending and Lesko is currently at SCI Graterford.
