Gov. Corbett, Juror No. 11 Discuss Sandusky Verdict
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Just days after the verdict, a juror from the Jerry Sandusky trial is speaking out.
She recently appeared on "CBS This Morning." Gov. Tom Corbett was also on the show, talking about the jury's decision and Penn State's future.
Hundreds gathered outside the Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte Friday night anxiously awaiting the decision of the jury made up of seven women and five men.
Anne was juror number 11.
"You don't want to make that kind of decision, but you also have many other lives in your hands. In this case, we had the victims," Anne said.
Sandusky was found guilty on 45 of 48 charges and Anne said there was a lot of emotional and powerful testimony.
"The first victim that stepped forward, he was compelling in that his story was very complete and it was difficult in that I have a son, who you could imagine being that age," Anne said.
She describes deliberations as being calm and said jurors were serious and respectful.
She said the group did not discuss whether Sandusky himself should have taken the stand.
"I know in my own mind, I wondered, I think I would have liked to hear what he had to say. I would have liked to see him answer questions," Anne said.
Gov. Tom Corbett also answered questions on "CBS This Morning."
He is a member of the Penn State Board of Trustees and was Attorney General in 2009 when the Sandusky investigation began.
The governor said he is not surprised by the verdict, nor the length of time it took jurors to get there.
"We built an iron clad case and I think the jury demonstrated with their conviction of 45 of 48 counts that it was an iron clad case," Gov. Corbett said.
The governor said he is proud of Penn State's administration and the Board of Trustees now trying to deal with the situation.
He is anxious to see Louis Freeh's report as well.
Freeh is the former FBI director tapped to lead Penn State's investigation into the case.
