Goodwill Hosting 1st Ever Back-To-School Sale

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- With back-to-school costs going up, one organization is hoping to offer parents and students some relief in the form of a big sale.

Goodwill is kicking off the back-to-school season with its first ever back-to-school sale, which will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 10. All 29 Goodwill stores in southwestern Pennsylvania are participating.

Shoppers will receive 25 percent off all donated clothing and accessories.

Michael Smith, the president and CEO of Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania said in a press release: "Goodwill understands that these are very difficult times for many families. Our stores can be part of the solution and we are making a special effort to keep them fully stocked with gently used children's clothing, shoes and a variety of new school supplies."

The new school season is also a great time to donate unwanted items to Goodwill such as out-grown children's clothing.

Goodwill is looking for extra donations during August and September to make affordable school clothing available to help as many families as possible.

Smith added that donating is also a great way to teach children about gratitude, responsibility and helping others.
