Good Samaritan Helps Boys Dropped Off At Wrong Bus Stop
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A Pittsburgh family says two little boys were forced to get off their school bus at the wrong stop after school on Friday.
But they were able to find their way home thanks to a Good Samaritan at the wrong bus stop.
Christian Nyandemoh, 5, and his 9-year-old brother, Sahr, go to Dilworth Traditional Academy.
They are supposed to be dropped off at the intersection of Penn Avenue and Aiken Avenue in Friendship.
They say, instead, a substitute bus driver drove half-a-mile away to Penn Avenue and Millvale Street and told the brothers to get off.
The boys were able to tell the grandmother of another student what street they lived on and she drove them home.
Karen Nyandemoh is the boys' grandmother.
She told KDKA's Kym Gable, "Thank God for her! Because that's a long way. It's like six blocks. They never walk that far alone.
A person who answered the phone at the bus company contracted by the district, W.L. Roenigk, told KDKA the driver did stop at the correct intersection but no one got off.
He says the kids were taken only a block away, not six.
The boys' father, Neil Nyandemoh, told KDKA he does not fault the school at all. He blames the bus company.
"I don't believe it's an issue… any fault of the school's. They informed me this wasn't the regular bus driver. I don't have any complaints. We haven't had any issues so far with the school year," Nyandemoh said. "We're talking about someone entrusted with kids' safety. Somebody needs to be held accountable."
