Good Samaritan Assaulted, Robbed While Attempting To Assist Motorist
SPRINGDALE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – Police are investigating after a Good Samaritan was assaulted and robbed while attempting to help a motorist.
According to police, the incident happened on Route 28 in Springdale Township around 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
According to police, the 49-year-old victim, from Lower Burrell, was driving on Route 28, heading north when he stopped to help another driver near Springdale exit 12.
Police say the guy looked like he was having car trouble, but when the victim went to his trunk, he was assaulted by another person at the scene.
Police say items the victim had on him were stolen, and items were also taken from his car.
Stories like this one make some people reluctant to help.
"It's upsetting that there are people in this world that are not only asking for a nice Samaritan to come and help them, but they are switching it up and they are being mean and evil," said Harley Skibicki, of Pittsburgh.
Police say the victim was treated at Allegheny Valley Hospital for minor injuries. Investigators say they are not able to name any suspects at this time.
