CENTER TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – State police are investigating after a 6-year-old girl was attacked by two dogs in Butler County.

According to police, the incident happened on Tuesday around 8:45 p.m. in Center Township.

The girl suffered serious injuries after being attacked by two Rottweilers.

"There are two people that are technically owners of the dogs," said Trooper James Long, of Pennsylvania State Police. "That's going to be part of the investigation to see who is responsible for this, if anybody."

She was flown to Children's Hospital, and is said to be in serious but stable condition with injuries to her head, face and extremities.

Investigators say the attack happened near the sliding glass doors of the home.

"She was actually visiting her family members and the dogs were being let outside, and they came into the room inside the house where she was staying and they attacked her," Trooper Long said.

The dogs are being quarantined at the residence in Center Township for 10 days.

"At this point, it really looks like these were two dogs that may not have been comfortable around children," Trooper Long said.

State police are investigating the incident as a reckless endangerment case.
