Get Marty: Retired State Trooper Battling Cancer Gets New Truck
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A local car dealer stepped up big time to help a Pennsylvania State Police trooper who is battling cancer.
"I can't thank you enough. I can't believe this is happening," says retired trooper Bob Podvorec.
Podvorec had to retire from the state police early when he was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer.
But then, his retirement truck rusted out.
Cancer treatment and other bills made it impossible for him and his wife Mandy to buy a new one.
"The cancer is overwhelming. The pain is overwhelming. Now his retirement truck is ruined," says Mandy Podvorec.
That's when Mandy reached out to Get Marty.
"When you reached out to me, I had to help," says Shults Ford owner Richard Bazzy.
Bazzy went out and found Bob a new truck and gave it to him.
"I'm overwhelmed. I wanted my truck fixed and Shults Ford got me a new one," says Bob.
Bob is hopeful he can beat the cancer. He is in chemotherapy right now.
