Get Marty: Local Business Gives WWII Hero New Stair Lift
ELLWOOD (KDKA) - A World War II hero who survived the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor reached out to Get Marty with a very special need.
"I never get downstairs. I'm stuck up here," says 97-year-old Joe Gasper of Ellwood City.
Joe is a highly decorated veteran who was riding in a transport vehicle on December 7th 1941.
"I was blown out of my vehicle. I was tossed over a cliff," says Joe.

Joe was injured at Pearl Harbor. In fact his son sent Get Marty an e-mail, "My father is going to be 98-years-old in a couple months. He was wounded at Pearly Harbor and is one of the few survivors left. He cannot make it down the stairs anymore. My dad feels you can help him Marty." He was right.
We reached out to Carl D'Alicandro with A-Plus Stair Lifts of Pittsburgh.
"I love to help people. My father was a veteran. My brother was a Vietnam Veteran," says D'Alicandro.
D'Alicandro put a new stair lift in Joe's house.
"God bless you Carl. God bless you Marty," says Joe.
Joe loves the new stair lift.
