Georgia's Mark Richt: Jarvis Jones Will Be 'Tenacious' For Steelers
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - One of the newest Pittsburgh Steelers is a former Georgia Bulldog, as Jarvis Jones is the Steelers' first draft pick in 2013. Georgia head football coach Mark Richt gives Vinnie & Cook the inside scoop on Jones to 93-7 The Fan.
Richt has high praise for his former player. "He's tenacious. All he does is make plays. He's a fantastic pass rusher, not only an edge guy, but a guy that can bull people. He's very stout against the run. He played out in space in our 3-4 alignment. He was, at first, a very quiet leader for us. He just showed up and produced and everyone looked up to him. But then this season, he really took on more of a vocal role, more of an ownership role with our defense in particular."
Many of Jones' critics weren't impressed by his slow times in the 40-yard dash. Richt isn't buying that criticism. "How many times are you running a 40-yard dash in a football game?" Richt asks. "Not that many times. The goal is to get off that line of scrimmage quick, get on the edge, and make a tackle."
"What everybody's going to see is that this guy is relentless in his pursuit of the quarterback. I think everybody's going to be pleased with him."
