Missing 81-Year-Old Georgeanne Faison Found Dead In Overturned Vehicle
NORTH VERSAILLES (KDKA) -- A missing 81-year-old woman from North Versailles with dementia and Alzheimer's was found dead.
Georgeanne Faison was found inside her vehicle and it was overturned in a creek off of Cochran Mill Road in South Park.
Faison was reported missing Monday evening and she last spoke with her family early on Monday morning, calling her son at 1 a.m. before calling her grandson at 2 a.m. while at her home on James Street in North Versailles.
According to Jefferson Hills Police, Faison drove onto a private lot off of Cochran Mill Road, onto a gravel driveway, past the driveway and onto an unpaved dirt road. She then tried to either turn around or back out when her car got too close to the creek bank, causing it to roll over and land upside down in the creek.
Police believe this likely occurred sometime Monday.
"I don't know she ended up here. I think she was just confused," said her son, Jim Faison.
She was found by a family friend who, like many, had been looking for her since she went missing.
"She died in a gruesome way," said her son.
"She was the rock of our family, she held us together. We don't have her anymore."
She had dementia and Alzheimer's and it was just two months ago that her husband died.
"I think she was on a mission to find my dad, because Sunday and into early Monday morning when she left home, she contacted all of us probably 50 times looking for dad, saying he left in the car, saying 'I can't find him, I don't know where he is.'"
Police believe Faison drove onto the gravel dirt driveway and continued until it turned into a dirt drive which led to a dead end. They believe she attempted to back out or turn around and got too close to the creek bank and went over the embankment.
Sadly, she had placed her late husband's ashes in the vehicle with her.
"She sent me a letter saying, 'I want to be cremated and I want to be put in the same box as Dad at the funeral plot,' so that's the next mission."
Jefferson Hills Police will continue to investigate, but it doesn't appear to be criminal or suspicious in nature.
The cause of death has not yet been determined.
