Gay In The USA - Where Do We Stand?

PITTSBURGH (NEWSRADIO 1020 KDKA) -- With Tuesday marking the end of the U.S. military's longstanding "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy prohibiting openly gay individuals from serving in the military, issues of homosexual rights are once more at the top of the collective American consciousness.

At the Republican Presidential debate Thursday night, audience members booed a question from Stephen Hill, a now-openly gay soldier serving in Iraq.  In Texas, a Fort Worth high school student was suspended recently for telling a classmate that, as a Christian, he believed homosexuality was wrong.

All of this begs the question: where do we, as a nation, stand in 2011 on issues of homosexuality?

NewsRadio 1020 KDKA's Mike Pintek talks with Gary Van Horn, president of the Delta Foundation of Pittsburgh, a leading Pittsburgh gay rights organization.  Pintek asks why people still care about the private lives of others, and why repealing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" is good policy.

Listen to Mike Pintek every weekday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on NewsRadio 1020 KDKA!
