Gateway Analytical Opens In Gibsonia
GIBSONIA (KDKA) - Gibsonia is a community that nearly straddles the line between Allegheny County and Butler County. However, there's a new business there that is on the cutting edge of technology.
With several snips of the scissors, Gateway Analytical officially opened in Gibsonia Tuesday morning.
The company has been hard at work in the North Hills since this past fall.
Gateway is a subsidiary of Chem-Image Corporation in Point Breeze. Some of what they do is forensics work, but they can determine the chemical composition of paint, compare the make-up of generic drugs to the market standard, or look at defects and contamination of raw materials.
"You pick something up in your garage and you say, 'What is it and where did it come from? I can't identify it.' You bring it to Gateway Analytical. We tell you what it is. Not only can you see it with your eyes, but you can also understand the chemical composition of it and actually what is made up of that material," John Belechak said.
Their device looks like two microscopes, but really it's just one. It compares Sample A to Sample B and what you see on the screen is the results.
Congressman Jason Altmire is thrilled to have a high-tech company like Gateway Analytical in his district.
"They come right here to the North Hills of Pittsburgh for forensics, for Homeland Security, for pharmaceuticals, and healthcare. These are scientists. These are high-paying good jobs hopefully keeping people from western Pennsylvania here in our community," Altmire said.
