Gas Leak In Mt. Lebanon Prompts Evacuations
MOUNT LEBANON (KDKA) -- A gas leak kept several businesses closed this morning in a one-block area of Mount Lebanon.
Emergency officials with Allegheny County 911 say the leak happened in the 600-block of Washington Road.
According to the Mount Lebanon Police Department, the leak was contained, but the sidewalk and a few businesses were closed for a few hours while repairs were completed. Also, six nearby apartments were evacuated as a precaution.
The leak forced the closure of the northbound lanes of Washington Road between Central Square and Alfred Street for a short time this morning; however, the roadway has now been reopened.
So far, there is no word on when the repairs will be completed.
Officials say no injuries or illness have been reported as a result of the leak.
