Garfield Stabbing, Home Invasion Suspect To Stand Trial
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A man accused of stabbing his former girlfriend during a home invasion in Garfield appeared in court Thursday.
LeBaron Jake McCoy, 29, is accused of stabbing a woman during a home invasion in the 5300-block of Columbo Street on Aug. 5.
The charge of attempted homicide was dropped, but he will stand trial on all other charges, including unlawful entry, burglary, aggravated assault and violating a protection from abuse order.
Pittsburgh police were called to the home after a woman called saying her former boyfriend had tried to kill her.
Once inside, officers found a blood trail and followed it to an upstairs bathroom. There, they discovered the victim beaten so severely that her eyes were swollen shut and she was bleeding from cuts to her head.
It didn't take long for officers to find the alleged attacker hiding in an upstairs closet.
The victim told officers McCoy broke into her townhome by kicking in a back window and then attacked her with a butter knife. She said he gashed her head before he began beating her.
