Police: Father Accused Of Severely Beating 4 Young Sons
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A father is in jail after being accused of beating his four young sons.
Police say 32-year-old Steven Jenkins, of Garfield, beat the boys so severely one of the boys suffered seizures.
The abuse allegedly took place at his home on Deary Street in June of last year. However, charges were only recently filed in the case.
Police say Jenkins had joint custody of the kids and would see them on weekends.
Jenkins allegedly punched his 10-year-old son in the chest, which caused the child to fall backward and slam his head against the wall. The child was on seizure medication at the time and suffered three consecutive seizures after being punched.
The boy's 8-year-old brother used Facetime to show his mother what was happening. She ended up taking the child to Children's Hospital.
When questioned by police, the 10-year-old said this was not the first time Jenkins had hit him or his brothers.
He told police Jenkins punched him when he tried to stop him from beating his 4-year-old twin brothers.
Investigators asked the boy if he could have one wish, what would it be.
"That I won't go to my dad's house on weekends," the child said.
Investigators asked him why that would be his wish.
"Because he bruises me and plus he buys my brothers all this stuff and doesn't buy me nothing. He compares me to other people. He calls me weak, says I'm soft, says I'm a girl, calls me all that."
Jenkins is facing charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of children.
