Game 7: Pens Struck By Lightning, 1-0
PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) -- The Penguins just weren't able to get the job done in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, losing to the Tampa Bay Lightning, 1-0.
They lost the series, 4-3, at the CONSOL Energy Center Wednesday night.
Marc-Andre Fleury made 22 saves, allowing just one goal when Sean Bergenheim buried the puck at 5:41 in the second on a shot set up by Steve Downie and Dominic Moore.
The Pens had a power play opportunity with just 1:33 left in regulation, but were unable to get a goal. It was the fifth unsuccessful power play of the game for the Pens. They went 1-for-35 for the series and had no power-play goals in 25 chances at home.
Dwayne Roloson made 36 saves for his second NHL playoff shutout.
Roloson became the second goalie to go 6-0 in elimination games. He allowed only four goals in winning the final three games as Tampa Bay erased a 3-1 series deficit. That matched his feat in 2003 when he led the Minnesota Wild to a comeback against the Vancouver Canucks in the second round.
The Lightning will now face the top-seeded Washington Capitals in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
The Penguins lost their second consecutive Game 7 and fell to 2-6 in such deciding games at home.
