Game 25 Preview: Penguins Vs. Bruins
BOSTON (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Penguins will head on the road to Boston tonight, where their playoff run came to an abrupt end last season.
This will be the first time the Penguins have traveled to Boston since the Bruins completed a four-game sweep in the Eastern Conference Finals.
However, this will be the second meeting of the season between the two clubs. The Penguins topped the Bruins 3-2 back on Oct. 30 in a spirited affair in Pittsburgh.
Chris Kunitz, Brandon Sutter and Jussi Jokinen scored for the Penguins, while Marc-Andre Fleury made 21 saves in the contest.
The Bruins (15-6-2) enter tonight's contest having won three of their last four games with the lone loss coming in overtime against the St. Louis Blues. Overall, the Bruins are 7-1-2 in their last 10 games, which has propelled them to the top of the Atlantic Division.
David Krejci (four goals, 13 assists) and Milan Lucic (nine goals, eight assists) lead the team with 17 points apiece.
Lucic's nine goals also leads the way for the Bruins.
Jarome Iginla, who was acquired by the Penguins at the trade deadline and then signed in Boston as a free agent this summer, has four goals and nine assists in 23 games this season.
In goal, Tuukka Rask is putting up video game numbers. Rask has started 19 games and posted a 12-5-2 record to go along with a miniscule 1.62 GAA and .945 save percentage.
Against the Penguins, Rask is 1-5-0 with a 2.70 GAA and ,903 save percentage.
For Pittsburgh, Evgeni Malkin snapped his goal-scoring drought Friday against the Islanders, but he's been racking up the points of late.
Malkin has eight points (one goal, seven assists) in his last four games and is just four points behind Sidney Crosby (12 goals, 18 assists) for the league lead.
Against the Bruins, Malkin has 11 goals and 14 assists in 22 career games.
In goal, Fleury (13-7-0, 1.95 GAA, .923 save percentage) will be looking to get back in the win column after taking the loss Saturday night in Montreal.
Against the Bruins, Fleury is 11-5-2 with a 2.18 GAA and a .928 save percentage with two shutouts.
