Game 2: Pens Lose To Lightning, 5-1
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Tampa Bay Lightning tallied three goals in the first period, paving the way for a 5-1 win over the Penguins in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
Both teams had eight shots on goal in the first, but the Lightning found a way to score on Marc-Andre Fleury after he recorded a shutout in Game 1.
Tampa Bay began scoring early, starting with defenseman Eric Brewer putting the puck in the net at 2:02 on a 2-on-1.
Vincent Lecavalier picked up a power play goal at 6:53 and Nate Thompson added a third goal with 2:58 left in the first.
Pittsburgh tried to mount a rally in the second, outshooting Tampa Bay 14-8, but they picked up just one goal at 9:08 when Craig Adams chipped a rebound home after Arron Asham drove the puck to the crease.
Martin St. Louis scored the Lightning's second power play goal with just 14 seconds left in the same period to make it 4-1.
Mattias Ohlund got an empty netter to make it 5-1 with 2:05 left on the clock.
Dwayne Roloson made 35 saves.
