Furry Tails: Searching For A Forever Home (11/17)
Are you looking to bring a pet into your home? Local animal shelters are a great place to find a furry companion. So, as part of Furry Tails, I'll be doing an ongoing feature on adoptable pets from local animal shelters once a week. If you have room in your heart and are looking to bring a lovable ball of fur into your home, maybe one of these guys is meant to be a part of your family!
Primo
Animal Friends
Little Primo had a tough beginning, but now he's looking for a quiet, forever home where he can learn at his own pace and get lots and lots of love!
Watch video of Primo here:
Animal Friends says:
"Primo has come a long way since he was rescued and bought to Animal Friends. Finally, he's receiving the gentle, encouraging touch of our volunteers, which is a far cry from life in the basement he was rescued from.
"Right now, the only thing that motivates this frightened dog is food. He loves his Kibble. But with some coaxing and training, you'll be rewarded for giving this little guy a new life. He deserves it after all he's been through.
"We'd like to see him move into to a quiet, adult home with a "safe haven" (a crate) for when he gets frightened, which happens a lot. You'll need to be patient during housetraining, and aware that he may have ongoing medical needs and may never play like other dogs.
"You hear about people who buy homes that are considered "fixer-uppers." This way the new owners have a creative project to pour their love and personality into. Well, Primo is a fixer upper, one with a sweet grin and cute little ears.
"If you choose to adopt this special dog, you will watch him learn about living in a real home with a loving family."
Primo has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

Beckham
Animal Rescue League
If you're looking for an active dog that also loves a good cuddle, then Beckham might be just the guy for you! He's got a ton of energy and is waiting for a loving family at the Animal Rescue League.
The Animal Rescue League says:
"Beckham is an older gentleman, about 7-years-old, who came to the ARL as a stray in the beginning of September. This boy is very loving and really likes to cuddle and be petted. He loves to go for walks, too, and he does walk very well on leash once he gets going! Sniffing and exploring are his favorite things to do while on walks. And don't let his age fool you – 7 years doesn't stop him from exuding a ton of energy!
"Shelter life has been a little stressful for this boy as he has been here for several months, so Beckham recently entered our special S.T.A.R. dog training program where he has been getting extra attention and training. He does know a lot of commands like "sit," "down," and "come" and he listens very well. He has also been working diligently on learning how to settle, which can be a difficult thing to do in a shelter environment. We think he will be a phenomenal dog in a home where he will be less overwhelmed by all the noises and activities of the kennel. He is comfortable being crated, too.
"Beckham really offers the best of both worlds – a dog that is happy to be active and go for long walks and also a dog happy to cuddle on the couch all night long. Do stop down to meet him soon!"
Beckham is neutered, up-to-date on her vaccinations and microchipped.
