Furry Tails: Life-Saving Donation To Local Firefighters
Fires can be devastating events that effect the whole family, including pets.
That's why Project Breathe, a program established by the Invisible Fence company, is looking to donate more than 100 oxygen masks, specifically made for pets, to local fire departments.
But they are asking for your help.
They need animal lovers across the area to reach out to them if their local fire department is in need of these special, life-saving masks.
Statistics show that about 40,000 pets die each year in fires. And Project Breathe believes these masks are an important life-saving tool for all fire departments to have.
Their goal is to provide every fire station across the United States and Canada with the devices, and so far, they've donated more than 12,400 masks.
Appropriately, Project Breathe will be presenting the masks to the fire departments during the pre-game ceremony at the next Pup Night at PNC Park on Sept. 15 when the Pirates take on the Chicago Cubs.
If you would like to nominate a fire department for the donation, they cannot currently have pet oxygen masks on their vehicles. Also, they do not have to be present at Pup Night to receive the donation.
